PurKlenz

Better than Green Soap

★ ★ ★ ★ ★

This review is for: SOLabs' PurKlenz 900 mL Tattoo Skin Cleanser

This is what we th.ink.

This was purchased directly from Science Options Laboratories Inc. It is an amazing 900 mL bottle with a high-quality pump that reduces cross contamination. This soap is paraben-free, fragrance-free, it kills odour causing bacteria, it is designed to remove grease, dirt, and oil, revitalizes, refreshes, and purifies skin, and contains Chloroxylenol(PCMX). It is also not an irritant like green soap, and is specifically designed to work with the rest of what I call the “PurLine.” This includes PurSan, PurTect, PurKlenz, and PurRinse.

The first thing I want to touch on is their new pump. It is now a 4cc pump instead of a 30cc pump. I hated the old pump. Unless you are filling something with the soap it was pretty much useless. When washing my hands I had to tap it twice with the ball of my fist. When getting my wash bottle ready I'd tap it five times. However, this monster was needed to work with their pneumatic hands-free pump. Sadly the new pumps do not fit with the pneumatic pump. SOLabs is working tirelessly to find a pump that will fit the new bottles. The new 4cc pump is amazing. One pump to wash my hands, and four pumps for my wash bottle and we're good to go! At 900 mL this bottle lasts a very long time for me even when using it to wash my hands as well as get my wash bottles ready.

Recommended usage protocols can be found on their website for tattooing, piercing, and a lubricant for piercing. Their usage protocols for tattooing only for shaving. Their MSDS for the product is also available there. Their usage protocols for shaving are as follows: wash hands, and don clean gloves, dispense PurKlenz onto a piece of sterile gauze(approximately 2cc-4cc amount varies with size of tattoo), fold gauze in half to evenly spread PurKlenz, using a consistent outward circular motion with gentle but firm friction from the centre of the area to be tattooed to 2 inches beyond, use a single use disposable razor and begin shaving from the top of the area to the bottom in columns of 4-5 inches(making sure to shave in the direction of the growth), dispose razor in sharps container(do not recap), wash the area with sterile water, and sterile gauze, follow proper protocol for making a rinse bottle as per your local and Federal laws.

These protocols actually work amazingly. I use paper towel rather than gauze though. The area gets clean, and you get a visible layer of PurKlenz. This lets you know not only the area in which you will be shaving, but it also shows that you wont be doing a dry shave. It's bad enough our clients are being poked with needles; they don't need razor burn too! When making a wash bottle I use 4cc of PurKlenz, 4 cap fulls of witch hazel, 4 cap fulls of Bactine, and the rest is distilled water. This creates just the right amount of soap content for my 8oz wash battle, and adds a slight numbing effect to my wash bottle. It also drastically reduces swelling, and redness during my tattoos. My clients have always thanked me for that.

These are shipped very well. The four bottles of PurKlenz fit snug inside an appropriate sized box. The four pumps and straws are packed separately, and put in a cardboard tube in the centre. All PurKlenz bottles come in an induction sealed foil cap. The customer service, shipping, and shipping time are all top notch with SOLabs.

PurKlenz, PurTect and PurSan are available in Canada at www.solabs.ca and distributed by Eikon Device, BodyArtPro (PurKlenz only) and Bowers Medical Supply. See the American website www.purklenz.com for a list of Canadian and American Distributors selling PurKlenz and PurTect in the U.S.A. Note, PurSan should be available in the U.S.A. soon.

PurKlenz easily gets a 5 out of 5 like the rest of SOLabs' products. It works great, is meant to be used with the rest of my products, and makes a sensational non-irritating rinse solution. I have, and do recommend it to all tattoo artists.

Here at th.ink we aim to provide thorough and unbiased reviews of various tattoo related items. These items may vary from aftercare items, pencils, machines, to furniture. We noticed there weren't many sites dedicated to this, and those that were did not get updated often enough to suit what we deem as a valuable resource for unbiased information.
